Spring Tonic

Spring is the time to tidy up the Heritage Roses,
prune out the dead canes,
pull the pesky weeds, and feed the roses.

Here is a formula I have used successfully for several years:

Apply March 1st and March 25-30 in zone 7a
- or just as your early roses begin to leaf out

Per mature bush:

Apply March 1st:
1 cup Gypsum
1 cup lime
1 cup super phosphate
1 cup bone meal

Apply March 25-30:
1/4 cup Epsom Salts
1/2 cup Ironite
1/2 cup bloodmeal
1 cup cottonseed meal
1/2 cup balanced fertilizer, e.g.10-10-10)

Happy Gardening!
